Schedule
Feb 23rd, 2008 by Mrs. Collins
On MOST days our schedule includes:
- Morning work- usually coloring/ reading/ easy activity to complete while they are coming in and unpacking to help settle us down.
- Morning meeting- consisting of daily routines such as flag; moment of silence; exercises; song; calendar; days of the week; weather; number line; days in school; money; tally marks; straws and daily news
- Phonics
- English Language Arts
- Snack & Break
- Math
- Lunch & Recess
- Handwriting
- Social/ Science/ Technology/ Centers (depending on the day)
- DROP EVERYTHING AND READ
- Specialist
- Closing of the day
Of course, with my LOVE of books, there are texts tied into the curriculum and read throughout the day, depending on the topic.
At the end of the day, talk with your child about what they did in school – and DON’T accept “Nothing” for an answer! Make them tell you at least three things they accomplished in their day. Be sure to praise them daily on their hard work. If they THINK they can succeed, they WILL succeed!
